# Global Settings: General

Display preferences that change how energy figures and dates read across the whole platform, plus the text that appears on customer invoices.

## What this page is for

General is the first sub-page of Global Settings and holds the smallest number of controls with the widest reach. Two of them change what every energy figure in the platform means; the third changes how every date reads. The rest of the page is free text that gets printed onto customer invoices.

## Display Preferences

### Default Production Source

Chooses which measurement the platform treats as "production" in analysis charts and yield calculations. Two options:

- **Meter Energy** — uses the production meter reading. This is what the grid and the offtaker see, and it is the usual choice when revenue matters.
- **Inverter Production** — uses the sum of inverter output. Useful where a site has no production meter, or where you want equipment-level truth rather than metered truth.

The two rarely agree exactly: the meter sits downstream of the inverters, so it reflects transformer and cable losses and any auxiliary consumption. Switching this setting will therefore shift production and yield figures slightly across the whole fleet — which is why a colleague quoting a different number for the same site is often a sign that this was changed.

### Date Format

Applies to dates shown throughout the portal. Four options: `dd/MM/yyyy`, `MM/dd/yyyy`, `yyyy/MM/dd` and `yyyy-MM-dd`. Pick the one your team reads without thinking — the ambiguity between 03/04 and 04/03 is a real source of error in maintenance records.

### Show Raw Energy Values in System Analysis Page (instead of Normalized)

Off by default. When off, the System Analysis page shows **normalized** energy — readings corrected for the irradiance actually received, so that days with different weather can be compared. When on, it shows the raw, un-normalized readings.

Leave it off for day-to-day performance work; turn it on when you are reconciling against a meter or an inverter portal and need the untouched numbers.

## Billing Information

Two rich-text fields whose contents are printed on documents rather than shown in the portal:

- **Billing Information** — shown on customer invoices. Typically the legal entity name, address, registration number and payment details.
- **PPA Invoice Header** — prepended to all PPA invoices, above the line items.

Both editors support headings, bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, lists, alignment, text and background colour, links and images — so a logo or a styled letterhead block can go here.

## How to change a setting

1. Go to **Settings → Global Settings → General**.
2. Change the fields you need.
3. Press **Update** in the bar at the bottom of the page. Nothing takes effect until you do.

**Cancel** discards your edits and restores the saved values. Navigating away also discards them.

## Notes

- These settings are account-wide, not per-user. Changing the date format changes it for everyone.
- Changing Default Production Source does not recompute history — it changes which stored series the charts read from, so past periods will display differently too.
- Billing text changes apply to invoices generated after the change, not to invoices already issued.
