Reports: BESS Periodic Report
The BESS Periodic Report is a scheduled PDF that summarises one battery storage system's performance for a month. It is for asset and portfolio managers who need to send storage owners and stakeholders the same kind of regular, branded summary that PV owners already get from the PV Periodic Report. It is built and scheduled like any other report. See Reports: building and scheduling a report for the settings the two share.
What's new
- A new report type, BESS Periodic Report, is available when you create a report.
- The existing BESS Annual Report has not changed and works as before.
- The PV report previously called Periodic Report is now called PV Periodic Report, so the three types are easy to tell apart: PV Periodic Report, BESS Periodic Report and BESS Annual Report.
What the report contains
Each report covers one BESS system for one calendar month, with the system name shown on the report.
Item | What it shows |
|---|---|
System name | The battery system the report is for. |
Capacity | The system's installed capacity. |
Energy charged / discharged | Total energy into and out of the battery during the month. |
Revenue | Revenue for the month. Shown only when revenue reporting is enabled for your account. |
Availability | The share of the month the battery was able to respond. Downtime is included in the calculation, so outages lower the figure. |
Cycles | The number of charge/discharge cycles in the month. |
Round-trip efficiency | Energy out divided by energy in, with the date of the last cycle it is based on. |
Service calls | Service calls for the system during the month. |
Energy remaining | The energy stored in the battery. |
Graphs
Graph | What it shows |
|---|---|
Energy charged / discharged | Bars per day of the month (1 to 28, 29, 30 or 31), energy on the vertical axis. Use it to spot idle days or unusual cycling. |
Availability vs availability guarantee | The system's availability against the guarantee set in the BESS system's settings. Use it to show owners whether the contractual commitment was met. |
Settings
The BESS Periodic Report uses the same settings layout as the PV Periodic Report.
Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
Report Name | The name shown in the reports list and on the PDF. You can edit it at any time. |
Period | Monthly . |
Report Language | English or Spanish . |
System Level Columns | Which items appear for the system. |
Style | Branding and layout, as for other reports. |
Schedule | Generate and send the report automatically every month to the recipients you choose. |
Reminders | Reminders to people on your team, as for other reports. |
How to read the numbers
- A dash or N/A is not a zero. When a value is missing for the month, the report shows N/A or β. A 0 means the value really was zero.
- No data for the month. If the system has no data for the period, the report says so clearly instead of showing empty sections.
- Part of a month. If the system started operating partway through the month, the report covers the days with data and notes that the period is partial. Compare it with a full month with care.
- No availability guarantee set. If no guarantee is configured for the system, the availability graph shows availability without a guarantee to compare against.
How to
Send a monthly storage summary to an owner
- On the Reports page, create a report and choose BESS Periodic Report.
- Choose the BESS system and give the report a name the owner will recognise.
- Set Period to Monthly and choose the Report Language.
- Adjust System Level Columns and Style as needed.
- On Schedule, turn the schedule on and add the owner as a recipient.
- Save. The report is generated and sent each month. Sent copies appear in the Reports Archive.
Show an owner whether the availability guarantee was met
- Check that the availability guarantee is filled in on the BESS system's settings.
- Generate the BESS Periodic Report for the month.
- Use the availability vs guarantee graph, together with the Service calls line, to explain any shortfall.
Change or remove a BESS report
- Open the report from the Reports page to edit its settings.
- To remove it, delete it. enSights asks you to confirm first.
Notes
- Each BESS Periodic Report covers a single system. To report on several batteries, create one report per system.
- If you have no BESS systems set up, the create flow tells you so and points you to setting one up, rather than showing an empty list.
- The PDF can take a moment to build. enSights shows progress while it is generated and a clear message if it fails.
- If you need a yearly battery summary, the BESS Annual Report is still available.
